Sanyo PLC-XP200

The new Sanyo PLC-XP200 projectors were released in October boasting the worlds first Quadrive system. The Quadrive consists of 4 way red, green, blue and yellow LCD. The addition of a yellow panel means the projector can deliver a brighter output where lots of green is not required.

The projectors run at 7000 ANSI lumens and now come in a black chassis. The XP200 supports our existing range of lenses which means there are plenty of options from short throw to long throw.

White Star Curtain

Due to the popularity of our black star curtains we’ve added 4 white star drapes to our hire inventory. They’re identical to the black drape in every way except for colour. They’re 3m x 6m and can operate stand alone or on DMX. The drapes are available now just in time for Christmas and are also ideal for weddings.

Lab Rats

Lab Rats is a new kids’ TV show being produced in Brisbane at Channel Nine. The set takes up not only the entire of Studio 2 but also spills into what used to be storage space.

The producers wanted the show to have an industrial feel so the CYC was removed from the studio to exposes bare walls and cables. The storage space has been converted into a multi level maze but still needed to be lit well for television. BCL provided 24 x Strand Castor 2k Fresnels and 12 x Selecon Compact 1.2k Fresnels.

Our gear was out for over 3 months and worked well. The show is currently on air 3 days a week at 4:00pm on Channel 9 and is rating well.

Youth Alive - Good Life Tour

The Youth Alive QLD band has just wrapped up a tour of Queensland, covering 9 venues from the Gold Coast to Cairns. BCL went with them supplying a complete lighting rig and AV solution.

The event required an energetic lighting rig that looked big but could be setup and packed up quickly. The touring rig consisted of 12 x Martin MAC250 Wash units and 6 x Martin MAC550 Profile. 16 x LED strips provided a colourful backdrop to the band either side of the centre screen. The entire rig could be setup in just under 2 hours and be packed up in about an hour and a half.

The only conventional fixtures were fresnels for front wash and molefay audience blinders. This meant the whole rig fit within 2 x three phase outlets.

The tour finished at the Brisbane Riverstage where an additional 2 x Martin MAC550 profiles, 12 x Martin MAC600 Wash and 8 x LED strips were added to the rig.

The gear handled the touring well with no equipment failures over the 2 week run. For photos of the Brisbane show please check our gallery.

BCL has just purchased 20 Sentinel Defender 5 channel heavy duty cable crossovers. They’re 890mm long by 542mm wide and can handle 5 tonne per 200mm x 200mm (per tyre).

They’re made of virtually indestructible polyurethane and use an interlocking lid to ensure the cover stays closed when in use. The covers are also ideal for protecting cables in high people traffic areas.

The covers have been a popular request for years so we’re pleased to be able to provide them as part of our hire service. They’re priced at $9.90 each per day and are available for hire now, contact us to make a booking.
